How to Block or Prevent Chrome and Microsoft Edge from Installing Extensions,
Step 1: Start by typing Registry Editor into the Windows 11 search bar. Then select Registry Editor from the list of results that matched.
Step 2: Open the Registry Editor and go to the following location:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\
Microsoft\Edge
Step 3: If the Edge folder is not visible, right-click Microsoft and choose New > Key. The new key is called Edge.
Step 4: Next, choose New > Key by right-clicking on the Edge key.
Titling the new key ExtensionInstallBlocklist is the fifth step.
Step 6: Click the ExtensionInstallBlocklist with the right mouse button and choose New > String Value.
Step 7: Give the fresh String (REG SZ) key the number 1.
Step 8: In the right pane, double-click on the 1 String (REG SZ), Type * in the value data field.
Step 9: When finished, press Ok to exit the Registry Editor.
Step 10: Launch the Edge browser and attempt to add an extension. A prompt saying "Your admin has blocked" will appear.
That's it; using the method described above will also turn off all installed extensions for your Edge browser. Remove the ExtensionInstallBlocklist you made in Step 5 to permit extension installation.
